TL;DR: The Peter Ryan Report is a relatively new series on the CoinSpice Podcast Network. Each episode, Ryan will take-on the world of cryptocurrency from a perspective you’re not likely to get anywhere else. In episode 2, he discusses crypto worldviews. Is Bitcoin inherently for right wingers and libertarians, while Ethereum tends toward the more progressive end of the spectrum? How much of our own ideologies do we put on top of cryptocurrency projects? Does interacting with crypto change worldviews? Ryan is steeped in the ecosystem, having been a noted analyst at larger news outlets and, more recently, Executive Producer for a new documentary on Amazon Prime, Rizqi Presents: Blockchain, a six part series exploring crypto in-depth. This podcast episode is available embedded in the article below, and on YouTube, iTunes, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Stitcher, Radio Public, Breaker, PocketCasts, PodBean, and Overcast.
Is Bitcoin for Right Wing Crazies?
Somewhere between crypto influencing us, and our interests influencing crypto, is the truth. It’s probably fair to write libertarians, known for being hard money gold bugs, were the first to embrace cryptocurrency, the idea of P2P digital cash.
But as prices rose and the concept spread out to the unwashed, and by the very nature of any open source project, different viewpoints adopted crypto. Even those who love regulation, governments, and have never given thought to the evils of the Federal Reserve system could find something to love about Bitcoin.
In this second installment of The Peter Ryan Report on CoinSpice, Ryan delves into the chicken-egg debate, and settles the camps and various worldviews along project lines but also highlights their personal emphasis: what do they hope to achieve by crypto taking hold? It’s a quick, fun discussion that’ll get you thinking.
